THE TRUCK DRIVER

There was this truck driver on a routine load delivery at a mental hospital, who parked his vehicle beside an open drain.

He discovered a flat tyre when he was about to return from the mental hospital. He jacked up the truck and removed the flat tyre to fix the spare tyre. When he was about to fix it, he accidentally dropped all the 4 bolts in the open drain.

As he cannot fish out the bolts from the open drain, he began to panic.

Just then, a patient happened to walk past him and asked the driver why he was looking so troubled.

The driver thought to himself, “What can this mental joker do?” but to humor him, the truck driver told him what had happened and gave a helpless look.

The patient just laughed at the truck driver and said, ”You cannot even fix such a simple problem. No wonder you are destined to remain a truck driver for life”.

The truck driver was astonished.

“Here is what you can do” said the person, ”Take one bolt from each of the remaining 3 wheels and fix it on to this tyre. Then drive down to the nearest workshop and replace the missing ones. Isn’t it simple, my friend?”

The truck driver was impressed with this quick fix answer and asked the patient, ”How come you are so smart and intelligent and you are here at the mental hospital?”

The patient replied, ”My friend! I stay here because I am crazy but not stupid”.

Is it any wonder that there are many of us, who behave like the truck driver, with our pre-conceived ideas and assumptions about others?

Remember, as you walk along the long and lonely road of life, someone, somewhere, will always be able to give you a quick-fix solution to the problems confronting you every day of your life. Never judge them by their appearances. Everyone carries inside them a “surprise” that will struck you like a lightning belying your ideas and notions about them.
