FIND PURPOSE IN YOUR DARKEST MOMENTS

American Idol finalist Danny Gokey pays tribute to the sustaining power of hope

Most people will identify Danny Gokey with American Idol™ as he finished in the top three of Season 8. Others will know him as a country singer, but few will know that he is also a Gospel singer and philanthropist. And to his growing resumes he can now add another title, that of an author.

Hope in Front of Me: Find Purpose in Your Darkest Moments by Danny Gokey, in collaboration with Ben Stroup, is a tender memoir which narrates the loss of his first wife, Sophia, due to a heart condition. Far from wallowing in self-pity, the pang and agony of his painful experience gives Gokey the strength and direction to move forward in faith from the pit of despair to a place of hope.

In his book Danny Gokey advocates a dogged push toward one's destiny whatever the circumstances may be. He provides a strong dose of encouragement to live into the dreams God has placed in our hearts and honor them, irrespective of its heavy toll, because the surpluses are not only for ourselves, but so others might respond to the calls on their lives, too.

What's in the book is not all that what's there to read and understand about his philosophy of life. The author himself is a living proof! With a meager fund and resources he started Sophia's Heart, a non-profit in memory of his wife for the purpose of offering hope to the hopeless and homeless.

Sometimes, seemingly impossible events and circumstances may threaten to foil our hope, yet God is not helpless even among the ruins if only we allow Him to work through us. Hope in Front of Me is an inspiring book that should motivate and encourage a reader to keep on keeping on.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Wanting to make a legacy of Sophia’s life, Danny utilized his American Idol™ platform and a growing vision to establish Sophia’s Heart, a nonprofit organization established in 2008 in honor of his late wife. He began meeting the needs of a hurting community by helping children and families who have been touched by poverty, sickness, disease, broken homes, and broken dreams achieve a better lifestyle for themselves. By providing job-skill training for adults, tutorial help in school subject areas for children and teenagers, and a music and arts program to inner-city kids, Danny gives the opportunity for families to pursue their dreams in a safe environment.
